Why You Need to be Eating These Three Foods to Keep Your Kids and Their Smiles Healthy

“Confusing” is the easy method of understanding health guidelines. At Texas Kids Dental, we want you to have robust oral health wherever you or your family is, whether that’s in our office, at home, at work or anywhere else. Here are a few mouth-healthy treats you can rest easy chomping on (and drinking).

Leafy greens. Leafy greens such as spinach are jammed with minerals and vitamins that perform wonders for your oral health. The folic acid they contain is great for your gums, and they are also good sources of protein.

Water. Sure, water is technically a drink, but the benefits of drinking it are so great for your teeth that we had to include it with this list of foods. When you drink water, you rinse out debris and bacteria from your oral cavity. Once bacteria are rinsed away, your chompers become less likely to erosion and your oral cavity becomes healthier.

Yogurt. Yogurt includes helpful bacteria called probiotics which poke out detrimental bacteria from within your gums. And like cheese, yogurt has protein and calcium to strengthen your chompers. If you do choose to go for yogurt, don’t determine to get any with added sugar. Instead, opt for natural varieties such as organic Greek yogurt.
