When it comes to the treatment of your child, we recognize you don’t mess around. baby bottle tooth decay, a problem targeting the teeth of children 6 years old and younger, can leave your child with rotten teeth and bones; in the most intense situations, teeth can even fall out and permanent damage can be done to the gums and bones. At Texas Kids Dental, there are a few things we can do to ensure your child’s teeth will stay as strong as possible, even if they’ve had a battle with baby bottle tooth decay.

As with most oral treatments, the care possibilities will vary depending on the age of your child. Dr. Jeffrey Erickson will work closely with you to formulate the perfect care plan for your child. One of the first things they may go over is to decrease the amount of sugary sweets in your child’s diet; sugary foods are the preferred food of cavity-making bacteria that eat away at teeth. The dentist may also talk about giving your child an enamel-improving fluoride treatment and/or prescribe fluoride supplements to boost your child’s support against cavities. Finally, the dentist will recommend helping your child brush their teeth two times daily and floss their teeth once a day.
