If you’re pregnant, you need to remember that your smile is very vulnerable to many dental issues. This is why Dr. Jeffrey Erickson and our dental team encourage you to take good care of your teeth and gums as much as possible.

In order to do so, we first recommend visiting Texas Kids Dental twice a year for your routine dental cleaning and exam. This is important because the treatments provided can help you prevent the development of pregnancy gingivitis. While you’re at our office, please tell our team that you are pregnant and don’t forget to mention any medications and vitamins you are taking (as well as the dosages) and any medical advice your doctor has given you. This information can help us give you the best dental care possible.

Second, clean your smile regularly. This means you need to brush every morning and every night and floss and rinse daily. Doing these things can also help you prevent pregnancy gingivitis, which is a serious dental issue that forms when you fail to remove plaque from your smile regularly. If you’re not careful, the disease could cause premature birth.
